The XXVⅢ International Bioacoustics Congress was held at Hokkaido University (Sapporo campus, Hokkaido) in Japan. A great congress for any researcher studying animals acoustic communication and soundscape ecology.
After several re-schedules due to COVID, it was finally possible to go to the IBAC. Is important to notice that this was the first IBAC in East Asia after 50 years history!
FishBioacousticsLab was present in this conference with Manuel Vieira presenting his work related to the Mini-grant "PAMEggs - Assessing temporal and spatial spawning overlap between invasive weakfish (Cynoscion regalis) and native meagre (Argyrosomus regius) with Passive Acoustic Monitoring" and Noelia Rios presentation titled "Assessment of spatial and temporal patterns of nearshore fish communities through passive acoustic monitoring in a Marine Protected Area" (a chapter of her ongoing PhD).
Next IBAC will be in Denmark!
